Want to change your life? Do you want more love and happiness? Well, there are a lot of tips to achieve this. But there is a book that really struck me, and I want to share what I learned with the hope of spreading love and happiness to more people around the world. The following chords are based on the brilliant and inspiring book The Four Chords by Don Miguel Ruiz. The idea is that if you commit to these four specific agreements, you will change your life and be a happier and more loving person. The author, Don Miguel Ruiz, combines Mexico`s traditional indigenous beliefs with modern ideas to create four simple rules by which you can live your life. These rules are the agreements you must make with yourself. At first glance, the agreements seem so fundamental that one wonders what they are. But if you dive deeper into logic, you begin to appreciate the wisdom of what Ruiz says. And the fact that it has been translated into 46 languages and sold 8.5 million copies in the United States alone should also tell you that the author likes something. My first man used his words as weapons of mass destruction.
He used it to divide, separate and confuse. He used his words to scare, judge and feel bad. Until I found Don Miguel Ruiz`s book The Four Chords, I didn`t know what he was doing or why he was doing what he was doing. I didn`t know what I didn`t know. I understood the strength and effect we have with our words, until this transformative book found me. Ironically or divinely, it appeared in my life when my first marriage ended in divorce in 2002. If you don`t follow any of these agreements, go again. Let`s start again tomorrow and the next day. Keep training. Every day gets easier. By doing your best, habits of abusing your word, taking things personally, and making assumptions become weaker and less frequent over time. If you continue to take steps to change your habits, it will happen.
